dircolors?

has anyone gotten dircolors to work on netbsd?

i find color definitions in a shell very helpful, and even though the DESCR file in the gnuls package says that dircolors is included, the binary is not on the system after installing gnuls?

anyone know what's going on?

Re: dircolors?

Yes.

cd /usr/pkgsrc/misc/gnuls && make install distclean

If you are using bash you can add this in your ~/.profile after installing gnuls.

alias ls="gls -aF --color=always"

Be sure that your PATH in ~/.profile is correct.

e.g:
PATH=$HOME/bin:/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/pkg/bin
PATH=${PATH}:/usr/pkg/sbin:/usr/games:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin
export PATH

Then it should work fine, just type ls in your directory and you have colors smile
