SMP in NetBSD

I was wondering what the SMP status in NetBSD is for SPARC and SPARC64?

Is it possible to run SMP on these archs? and how do I compile my kernel for that?

Re: SMP in NetBSD

I have no experience with SMP. However, it do exist
a Kernel config file for multi processor on Sparc64.
Check it out:
http://cvsweb.netbsd.org/bsdweb.cgi/src … rc64/conf/

It is called GENERIC.MP

There are also pre-compiled kernels with multiprocessor support for
sparc available at ftp://releng.netbsd.org

Re: SMP in NetBSD

SMP on sparc should just work fine. I have repeatedly seen dmesgs of those machines and no (loud) complaints of those users. For sparc64, SMP is in a very very unstable state at the moment. They've just added it so it's in CVS and they can return to it once they have time. Maybe you can help ? :)

Re: SMP in NetBSD

I have seen crashes on NetBSD/i386 SMP (dual P3 i700) when scrolling in mozilla. Perhaps related to shared memory (?) in X? Who knows. The system just froze. I could play freeciv without problems though.
