Upgrade NetBSD

Hi!

With the upcoming 3.0 release I'm thinking about upgrading my server running NetBSD 1.6.1. I didn't upgrade to 2.0 or 2.1 since the server is running mail and web for a couple of domains on a VIA mini-itx CL6000 board. I found posts that NetBSD 2.0 would freeze in stage 2 of the boot on VIA mini-itx. Didn't want to be sitting with a production server that refuses to boot.
Since the problem seems to be in the bootloader is it likely that a clean install which will case problems but an upgraded system will work?
Has anyone tried installing 2.1 or one of the 3.0 release candidates on a mini-itx system?

Regardless of hardware, what are the risks involved in doing an upgrade of 1.6.1 to 3.0 when it comes to all installed software? Will I need to rebuild all pkg_src installed software?

Regards,

Erk

None and no.

There's a similar discussion on the netbsd-users mailing list regarding this issue, check it out: http://arkiv.netbsd.se/?ml=netbsd-users … ;t=1543540
