NetBSD on powerbook?

Is there anyone who run NetBSD on a powerbook?
Does it work nice?

Re: NetBSD on powerbook?

Since no one with live experience of running NetBSD on a PowerBook model has answered this post yet, I'll provide some links which might be helpful:

As it's stated on the NetBSD/macppc Model Support page, all PowerBook models should be supported - some of them are still untested, but should work.

It might be an idea to read up on the NetBSD/powerpc 1.6 to 2.0 changes and the NetBSD/powerpc 2.0 to 2.1 changes, searching the NetBSD/macppc mailing list and the NetBSD/powerpc mailing list might provide some good answers as well.

Visit the NetBSD/macppc page for further reading.

If you are still unsure, try emulating NetBSD on your PowerBook first, and if you're satisfied with the results - go for it!
Just don't forget about letting us know how it went, we want a full report. (-:

If you're using the official NetBSD/macppc ISO, run: boot cd:,ofwboot.xcf netbsd.macppc

Re: NetBSD on powerbook?

No idea. Please post the entire output if possible.

You might try netbooting the kernel though.

Re: NetBSD on powerbook?

I have three partitions Linux,OSX and OpenBSD with yaboot installed,
now my idea is to replace OpenBSD with NetBSD,
the output is as follow:
0> boot cd:,\ofwboot.xcf netbsd.macppc load-size=cbbc adler32=54df3a4c
loading XCOFF
tsize=c850 dsize=28c bsize=25c0 entry=e00000
SECTIONS:
.text ...
.data ...
.bss ...
loading .text, done...
loading .data,done...
clearing .bss,done...

>>NetBSD/macppc OpenFirmware Boot, Revision 1.10
>>(builds@build, Wed Dec 1 13:46:04 UTC 2004)
4116920+191104=0x4 1bec4
start=0x800000

Invalid memory access at %SRR0: 0000009f %SRR1: 00009f00
ok
thanks for your help!

Re: NetBSD on powerbook?

I've been able to find this: http://mail-index.netbsd.org/port-macpp … /0000.html

Never seen this problem occur earlier and I'm out of ideas. Good luck!

If you're using the official NetBSD/macppc ISO, run: boot cd:,ofwboot.xcf netbsd.macppc

only:

boot  cd:,ofwboot.xcf

works for me --> ofwboot.xcf find oter things
